17 people injured after ferry slams into pier

The Jersey City Fire Department responded to a ferry accident just before 7:30 pm Saturday night.

The New York Waterways ferry made a hard landing at the pier at 30 Hudson Street, and 17 passengers were injured. Most of the injuries appeared minor, however, three individuals were removed on stretchers. Five of the 17 passengers were transported to Christ Hospital and the other 12 went to the Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health.

The U.S. Coast Guard is handling the investigation.
