Dead-End Chase at William St Leaves Man Charged for Possession of CDS in Harrison

After hours of being on patrol, Office Sloan of the Harrison Police Department department witnessed a vehicle traveling at a higher than usual speed rate on the night of February 17, 2016  at 10:46pm. The vehicle was a 4 door Maroon Kia Sorrento that was traveling westbound on Harrison avenue. Emergency lights and sirens were activated as Officer Sloan attempted to stop the driver behind the wheel.

A bag containing Marijuana was thrown from the driver’s window as Office Sloan approached the vehicle. The actors left the scene and made their way towards a dead end on William street.

30 year old Male resident of Newark, NJ and of African American descent, was handcuffed and Mirandized. He later stated “I’m sorry, I got nervous and threw the bag of weed out the window.”

The second occupant of the vehicle was checked and had no outstanding warrants and was immediately released from the scene.

No weapons or contraband were found inside the vehicle.

The Newark resident has been charged with :

Possession Of CDS – Possession Of 50 Grams Or

Hindering Apprehension Or Prosecution 3rd

Resisting Arrest Dpo – Purposely Prevents Law
