24-year-old man shot 19 times in Jersey City

Jersey City police arrested two men involved in a shooting just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday night on Claremont Avenue near Clerk Street.

The victim, a 24-year-old man who was arrested in April on a gun charge and was wearing a ankle monitoring bracelet, was talking with the two men who he knew before they began shooting at him. 

Police responded and quickly located two men matching the description of the shooters in the area of Wilkinson and Arlington avenues.

Arron Enix 23, of Van Nostrand Avenue and Davon Cooper, 23, of Bayview Avenue, were both charged with criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and unlawful possession of a weapon, 

While canvassing the area, police also recovered two handguns believed to be used in the shooting from a backyard on Clerk Street where the actors fled.

The victim, who was shot 19 times, is in critical condition at the Jersey City Medical Center-RWJBarnabas Health.
