Bayonne Bridge Update

Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the Port Authority has provided the City of Bayonne with updated information on the Bayonne Bridge construction project.

Gertrude Street was closed during part of the second week of August.  A portion of 1st Street will be closed in the very near future. No date is available at this time.

For most sections of the bridge on the Bayonne side, pier (column) construction and roadway segment installation have been completed.

At Pier N2 (south of 1st Street), the gantry has launched installing roadway segments.

At Pier N14 (Margaret Street) and Pier N15 (Abutment – between 5th and 6th Streets), utility work is taking place.  This activity should be completed in six weeks.

The Port Authority has a Community Outreach Office to offer Bayonne residents the opportunity to speak personally with Port Authority staff about concerns and services available to help minimize construction impacts.  Please call Bill Young at 718-390-3003 with any questions, concerns, or to schedule an appointment.  The temporary hours of operation for that office are Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
