Bayonne man arrested after making terroristic threats to his girlfriend, Police recovers shell casing


Bayonne Police responded to 68 West 19th st on a report of a shot fired. The victim, 44-year-old female Bayonne resident, stated that she had been receiving threatening text messages from Jamonee M. Gant with whom she has a dating relationship. According to Bayonne Police, Gant arrived at 69th West 19th st and attempted to gain entry first by attempting to force open the front door and then by entering through a window on the side of the residence. As Gant was climbing in the window the victim was able to push him out and close the window. The victim reported hearing a loud bang outside during the attempted entries.

Officers recovered a .45 caliber shell casing below the window that Gant attempted to enter. They additionally found a bullet lodged in the passenger side rear quarter panel of a vehicle parked at the curb in line with the alley where the shell casing was recovered.

The blue Hunday Sonata, owned by a neighborhood resident, was impounded for investigative purposes. Gant was taken into custody from the scene, however no weapon was recovered.

Gant 27-year-old of West 19th st was charged with:

Burglary
Criminal Michielf
Terroristic Threats.

Bail was set at $50,000 and Gant was sent to Hudson County Jail.
