Blue and White Permit Parking Zones Are Expanding in Bayonne

Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the Blue and White Permit Parking Zones are expanding.  Currently, the western border of the two zones is the west side of Avenue C.  Effective Monday, August 1, the new western border of the Blue and White Zones will be the west side of Avenue A.  Enforcement will begin in the new parts of those zones between Avenue C and Avenue A on August 1. Eventually, all of the existing parking permit zones will be extended to the west side of Kennedy Boulevard and/or Avenue A, depending on the area or zone.  Avenue A runs from Bergen Point north to 36th Street.  Avenue A does not exist north of 36th Street.

The Blue Zone was created to protect on-street parking for residents in the streets around the 22nd Street Light Rail Station.  The White Zone was created to protect on-street parking for residents in the streets around Bayonne Medical Center (formerly Bayonne Hospital).

The Blue Zone includes the side streets from 16th Street through 26th Street.

The White Zone includes the side streets from 27th Street through 30th Street.

Residents living on the newly eligible streets will be able to apply for the permits effective immediately.  Applications will be available at the office of the Bayonne Parking Utility, Room 14, at City Hall, 630 Avenue C.  Applications will also be available for printing from the City website, www.bayonnenj.org. Applicants may also file for permits through the mail, and the Parking Utility encourages the public to do so. People do not need to apply for permits in person at City Hall. Permit applications and photocopies of the required documents demonstrating residency, driver’s license, and car registration may be mailed along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope to the Bayonne Parking Utility, 630 Avenue C, Bayonne, NJ 07002.  Newly eligible Blue and White Zone residents will receive citywide parking permits and Blue or White Zone guest hangtags free of charge.  Eligible Bayonne business owners with a primary business address located within the two zones, and their employees whose workplaces are located in the Blue or White Zone, and who are not Bayonne residents, will be able to apply for Blue or White NR (non-resident) permit stickers through the Parking Utility, for a fee of $150 per year.
