‘He was a spectacular human being:’ Bayonne’s Edward Clark Park basketball courts named for George Tenety

The 40-year-old of Tampa, FL passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015.

George Tenety was born and raised in Bayonne and grew up loving basketball.

“Everybody in the neighborhood came to us and asked us if we would be willing to do this and absolutely,” Mayor Jimmy Davis says.

According to his obituary, Tenety was a kind, loving person with a contagious smile and a love of life.

His friend, Chris Osterhoudt of Pleasantville, NY says they knew each other since college, hit it right off and became really close. He says growing up, the basketball court was George’s favorite place to go.

The mayor says they opened up Edward Clark Park with the new water, new play area and new basketball courts.
