Hoboken Police: homeless man arrested after leaving his victim with a serious head trauma

On November 25th, Hoboken Police have arrested Robert B. Crute, a 29-year-old homeless man and charged him with Aggravated Assault, Endangering the Welfare of a Victim, Bail Jumping (Bayonne Warrant) after assaulting a Newark man and leaving him motionless with a head trauma.

Defendant, while in the area of 232 Washington Street engaged in an argument with the victim, a 33 year old male from Newark, which escalated.  The defendant then struck the victim in the head with his fist.  The victim then fell to the ground and lay motionless.  The defendant  retrieved his belongings from the ground and proceeded to stomp on the victim’s head with his foot before fleeing the area.  The defendant was followed by a witness who was in contact with police dispatch.  Defendant was eventually arrested at 323 Hudson St by Officer Marco Grossman of the Uniform Patrol Division.

The defendant was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility and assessed a bail of $15,000 with a 10% option.  Defendant’s warrant from Bayonne was assessed a bail of $5,000.00 with a 10% option.
