NORTH BERGEN, NJ — Albert Salvesen and Sean McLellan were promoted to Battalion Chiefs at a North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue (NHRFR) swearing-in ceremony today at Commission Chambers in North Bergen. Prior to these promotions, Salvesen and McLellan served as Captains.
“This promotion is a great honor for me professionally and personally,” said Albert Salvesen. “I’m looking forward to serving in the Battalion Chief role and working with all those that helped to make this happen.”
“It is a pleasure to continue serving the North Hudson region in this new capacity and in a profession I truly enjoy and love,” said Sean McLellan.
Salvesen began his career as a firefighter in North Bergen in 1993 and was promoted to captain within the NHRFR in 2010. McLellan became a firefighter in 1995, serving the Township of Weehawken and being promoted to captain within the NHRFR in 2007.
“We are incredibly proud of the many accomplishments and distinguished careers of both Captains Salvesen and McLellan,” said NHRFR Fire Chief Frank Montagne. “I know they will continue to serve the North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue and residents of the North Hudson region in a positive manner.”
Both Salvesen and McLellan served in the Rescue Task Force, providing special operations in heavy rescue, trench space, confined space and heavy lifting.
“Dedicated professionals like Salvesen and McLellan help to make the NHRFR the premier fire department that it is,” said NHRFR Management Committee Chairman and Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner. “We know that both men will serve the North Hudson residents well in their expanded roles as Battalion Chiefs.”
The new Battalion Chiefs will be assisting with the training and operations divisions within the NHRFR.
“Congratulations to the newly promoted Battalion Chiefs Albert Salvesen and Sean McLellan,” said North Bergen Mayor Nicholas Sacco. “The Township of North Bergen and the general North Hudson region owe a great deal of thanks to their long service, and we are particularly proud of the fact that Salvesen began his career with our department in North Bergen.”
The NHRFR has one of the best response times in the state, covering North Bergen, Union City, West New York, Weehawken and Guttenberg, as well as surrounding areas.
“The residents of Guttenberg are in good hands with the NHRFR and professionals like Salvesen and McLellan,” said Guttenberg Mayor Gerald Drasheff. “We thank them for their service and commitment to our township and region.
