Jitney Driver Robbed at Knifepoint in Early Morning Attack in North Bergen

Many people say those vans and jitneys aren’t as safe as NJ Transit buses. But an early Thursday morning incident might indicate the passengers might the dangerous ones.

A man reportedly waved a knife at , and then tried to rob a jitney driver of an Omni Bus at the end of the route at 91st and Kennedy Boulevard near White Castle. The man  and a male companion reportedly then fled north into Fairview.

Police said they are looking for (1) dark skinned male, possibly Hispanic, 30-years-old, short with a heavy set build. He was wearing a grey jacket or sweatshirt.

Also a second dark skinned male, possibly Hispanic, tall with a thin build. He was wearing a yellow jacket, grey boots, blue jeans and a dark ski type face mask. According to the victim, this is the suspect that brandished the knife and demanded the money.

No proceeds were taken and the victim did not sustain any injuries.

Detectives are actively investigating.
