unusual tumor halted his growth during teen years

This occurred within a couple hours of Seattle police saying the 28-year-old would not face criminal charges and that authorities would instead assess his need for medical help.

He was booked for investigation of malicious mischief and is due to appear in court Thursday afternoon.

The man drew national attention during his vigil in the sequoia near Westlake Center from late Tuesday morning to about midday Wednesday. His motivations for climbing the tree and refusing to come down remain unclear, but he threw an apple and cones at police and medics and stripped branches from the top of the 80-foot and chucked those away, too.

He captivated audiences who watched him from the ground and via Internet live streams as he ranted, removed clothing and pooped from the tree.
