On May 18th of 2016, Roosevelt School kids tried out google cardboard, a new google expeditions device that allows its wearer to travel to over 200 different locations and experience it virtually. The children were astounded by the device and traveled to locations such as Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in England, and the Pyramids in Egypt. Their teachers narrated their lesson plans as the students explored the locations they were experiencing. The Weehawken school district has already implemented google and other technologically advanced programs into their schools. They hope to also implement google cardboard as a method of learning that is individual and interesting to each student, while allowing them to engage in the material.
