West New York Park Supervisor stops emotionally disturbed man from committing suicide

Lewis Cannao, a park supervisor as well as the OEM for West New York, stopped a man from committing suicide in the area of Boulevard East in West New York. According to Police Director Bob Antolos, the man attempted to climb the fence on Boulevard East but Mr Cannao used physical force to stop him.

Mayor Roque gave the following statement: “West New York Park Staff were instrumental  in assisting Lewie to prevent a gentleman from committing suicide yesterday. His mental health needs are being met at a hospital. The situation is unfortunate, but I am glad to hear that the Park staff is effective and more importantly that our initiative saved a life.”

The man was described as an Hispanic Male between the ages of 30 and 40.
