On August 15th, 19-year-old Anthony Ciprian of Jersey City NJ was arrested in connection to a shooting reported on July 1st in the area of 3rd Harrison St, Hoboken Police said in a Press release.
On Sunday July 1st, 2018 at approximately 8:00 pm, Uniformed Officers responded to the area of 3rd Harrison Street on a report of shots fired. Officers arrived to find a large group shouting that they heard shots in the area of 3rd and Harrison Street. Officers immediately canvassed the area to search for possible victims and or suspects. They were not able to locate any injured persons in the area. Several of the residents would not cooperate with the officers while others provided minor details. Those who cooperated were able to describe a person exiting a vehicle while wearing a hood, shoot several rounds at the direction of a male then enter the vehicle and flee.
After the initial canvass, Detectives were notified and proceeded to investigate further. Detective Miranda and Officer Losurdo began to speak to possible witnesses and collect evidence. Some of the evidence led them to the City of Jersey City where they continued to follow their leads and on Wednesday July 18th, 2018 with the assistance of the Jersey City Police Department, they were able to gather enough evidence to complete a warrant for the arrest of the defendant.
With arrest warrant in hand, Hoboken Detectives along with Detectives from the Jersey City Police Department, attempted to locate the defendant who appeared to be in hiding. After several weeks, Officer Losurdo received information that the defendant may be hiding in the City of Bayonne. He, along with Detective Bret Globke and members of the Bayonne Police Department, were able to locate the defendant and safely place him under arrest. The defendant was transported to Hoboken where he was processed. He was also found to have an outstanding warrant from the City of Jersey City for a previous assault.
Anthony Ciprian was charged with the following: Aggravated Assault, Possession of a weapon (Firearm), Possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, Bail Jumping, Possession of CDS Marijuana, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia
He was later remanded to the Hudson County Rehabilitation Center.
