2 COVID-19 Deaths Bring Bayonne’s Total To 43 and 153 Residents Recovered

Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis released the following update late on Thursday afternoon regarding the city’s latest COVID-19 information.  Unfortunately, two more residents have lost their battle with the coronavirus.

COVID-19 UPDATE 4/23/2020
Mayor Davis has directed OEM to keep residents informed on all the latest information
related to this health emergency.
Mayor Davis has advised us that two more Bayonne residents have unfortunately passed away due to Coronavirus-related illness. A 90yr old female and a 72yr old male, have raised Bayonne to 43 deaths attributed to this pandemic. Mayor Davis extends his
deepest condolences to the families of these residents.
Bayonne Residents CURRENTLY Positive – 584*
The number above reflects only the Bayonne residents that are CURRENTLY
COVID-19 Positive.
We have 153 Bayonne residents that are RECOVERED.
Recovered patients, according to the CDC, no longer have to isolate or be
reported.
Bayonne Medical Center Testing:
The BMC conducts Drive-Up testing at Veterans Stadium each weekday. BMC has opened the testing to patients of all Bayonne doctors. In order to be tested at this site, your doctor must schedule you for an appointment. If your doctor says he/she isn’t aware of the procedure, advise your doctor to call the BMC for instructions.
DO NOT SHOW UP AT THIS SITE WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT.  Please do not call the City Hall hotlines/OEM for assistance with appointments, only your physician can schedule you for an appointment at this site. Veterans Stadium will be closed to the public during the daily testing (10am-12pm). Again, only your doctor can schedule you for an appointment. If your doctor is unaware, tell him/her to call the BMC for instructions.
Hudson County Testing:
The Hudson County Regional Testing Site in Secaucus is open to all residents in Hudson County. This free site does not require a prescription or doctor referral. You must, however, be pre-screened as only SYMPTOMATIC people are being tested. If you are approved for testing you will be given an appointment. 201-388-1097/646-862-1161
