30-year-old Union City Man Arrested on Multiple Counts of Burglary, Theft, Criminal Mischief, Hoboken Police says

Charges: 4 Counts of Burglary, 3 counts of Theft, 4 Counts of Criminal Mischief, Burglary Tools, Hindering Apprehension

While patrolling the Hoboken Housing area, Officers Straten and Williams were dispatched to the area of 301 Jackson Street on a report of a Burglary to the business. Upon arriving, they observed the front glass to the business damaged. Officers entered to find damage throughout the property along with damage to an ATM Machine and ceiling tiles. A walk through was conducted and the business was deemed safe.

Detectives were called to the scene to assist officers with the investigation. They were able to observe other damage to the outside of the property and other businesses. A check of a second business was conducted by Officers Straten and Williams and found it to also have damage throughout. As they continued to canvas the business, they observed an unknown male still inside attempting to flee. The officers were able to apprehend him and safely handcuff him and place him under arrest. A search of his person found him to have proceeds from the other business. A name check found him to have multiple aliases but was later identified.

The Detectives and Officers were able to tie the defendant to the Burglary of four businesses. The defendant entered all four causing damages in excess of $10,000. The money taken from the registers were in excess of $2000.00. He was transported to headquarters where warrant complaints were generated and remanded to the Hudson County Rehabilitation Center.
