Hudson County Prosecutor Charges Bayonne Man With Stabbing His Wife To Death

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has announced that a 32-year old Bayonne man has been charged with stabbing his wife to death yesterday morning at their North Street residence.

According to Suarez, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit have charged 32-year-old Peter Revelo in connection with the death of his wife Mely Vanessa Tafoya Mendoza in Bayonne.   Revelo has been charged with murder, a crime of the first degree, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, a crime of the third degree, and unlawful possession of a weapon, a crime of the fourth degree.

Yesterday, Wednesday, March 2 at approximately 11:58 a.m., the Bayonne Police Department received a 911 call for service to 105 North Street.  Responding officers found a woman, later identified as Mely Vanessa Tafoya Mendoza, age 33, of Bayonne, with an apparent stab wound to her torso.  She was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 12:36 p.m.

The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.  Revelo was taken into custody at the scene and charged at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City.
