The West New York Police Department held a promotional ceremony on Thursday at Town Hall.
Promoted to the rank of Captain: Karriem Shabazz.
Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant: Carlos Henriquez, Craig Miskovitz, Robert Leon and Mnawer Menwer.
Promoted to the rank of Sergeant: Genesis Zapata, Stefan Engers, Joseph Morrell, Andres Garcia and Cesar Reynoso.
Promoted from the rank of Special II officers to Police Officers: Amir Qandeel, Nicholas DeNicola and Byron Betancourt.
Congratulations go out to all of the officers, many of whom have been members of the force since the mid-2000s. Several were born and raised in West New York. Lt. Miskovitz joined the Department in the summer of 1998, while Lt. Menwer is a twenty year veteran of the Department.
Sgt. Zapata is the only female member of this promotional class, having been hired in 2018..
