When you think of iconic horror movie actors, none stands out more than Boris Karloff, whose 1931 performance of the Creature in Frankenstein is legendary.  The original novel, written by Mary Shelley more than 200 years ago, was published anonymously in London in 1818.  At the time, Shelley was just 20 years old.  This week, at Union City High School, Frankenstein comes to life once again, as the school’s theater department is staging five performances of this exceptional story.

Hudson TV stopped by the school on Wednesday as the final rehearsal was underway.  From what I saw, you will not want to miss this classic adaptation of Shelley’s work.

There are 17 actors and many more students working behind the scenes on lighting, stage direction, set design and so much more.

The lead role of the Creature is played by senior Ethan Montenegro, who is acting in his first high school production.  Theater teacher Anthony Gusevich is the play’s director.

Performances of Frankenstein at Union City High School are Thursday and Friday, December 5th and 6th at 7 pm; Saturday, December 7th at 1 pm and 7 pm; and on Sunday, December 8th at 1 pm.

Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for the general public at the door, or $7 on line by visiting cur8.com.  Performances are Thursday and Friday, December 5th and 6th, Saturday, December 6th at 1 pm and 7 pm,  and on Sunday, December 8th at 1 pm.
