Hoboken Police Seek Public’s Help In Identifying Additional Persons Of Interest In December Shooting

The Hoboken Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying three persons of interest as part of an ongoing investigation pertaining to an incident of shots fired on December 19, 2024.

According to a press release, “Shortly after the first 9-1-1 calls were made, Hoboken police arrested 18-year-old Elias Mercado of Kearny, who remains in the Hudson County Correctional Facility and faces multiple charges including criminal attempted murder.”

The release continues, “A follow-up investigation by the Hoboken Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit, led by Det. Sgt. William Collins, resulted in the identification of two other individuals wanted in connection with the incident. Criminal complaints have been issued for their arrests, and more information will be released as it becomes available.”

As the investigation continues, the Hoboken Police Department is working to identify three additional persons of interest.  Those individuals fled the scene after Mercado fired the shots.
