Get set for a Democratic battle in the 33rd Legislative District this coming June, as the Sacco-Stack longstanding rivalry continues, this time for the two, New Jersey Assembly nominations up for grabs in the Primary Election.

With Senator Brian Stack’s Assembly running mates having already been announced, those being incumbent, freshman Assemblyman Gabriel Rodriguez, the former West New York Mayor, and longtime North Bergen Mayoral candidate and Nicholas Sacco opponent, businessman Larry Wainstein, Mayor Sacco has announced who he is supporting for the 33rd District Assembly seats.

Sacco is backing Tony Hector and Frank Alonso.  Hector and Alonso officially filed their nominating petitions last week for the Assembly, submitting over 800 signatures apiece.

“We are honored by the overwhelming support we have received from the people of Hudson County,” said Hector. “Our campaign is about standing up to Brian Stack’s political machine and delivering real leadership for North Hudson taxpayers.”

Alonso echoed the sentiment, adding, “We are ready to take our message to the people and fight for policies that will make a difference in their daily lives.”

Meanwhile, the Stack ticket will be holding the opening of its North Bergen campaign headquarters this coming Saturday, March 29th at 11 am at the corner of 77th Street and Bergenline Avenue.

Considering the overwhelming Democratic Party registration throughout Hudson County, it’s truly amazing that such discord can exist within the party’s ranks.  That’s what makes politics in Hudson County so interesting.

With the 32nd and 33rd Legislative District lines having been redrawn prior to the last Assembly election, forcing North Bergen into Stack’s territory, is it any wonder that Sacco-Stack feud has reached a boiling point once again?

The next several months should be quite interesting.
