The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is participating in National Prescription Take Back Day at multiple locations throughout Hudson County this Saturday, April 26, 2025.

Members of the Office will be collecting unused prescription medication and vaping devices at Bayonne Walgreens (1080 Broadway) and Hoboken ShopRite (900 Madison Street) from 10 a.m. to noon and at Jersey City ShopRite (400 Marin Boulevard) and North Bergen ShopRite (3147 Kennedy Boulevard) from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Batteries must be removed from vaping devices prior to being collected.

National Prescription Take Back Day is a United States Drug Enforcement Administration led initiative aimed to prevent medication misuse and drug-related violence.

National Take Back Day provides residents with a safe, convenient, and anonymous way to dispose of unneeded or expired prescription drugs, which can often become a gateway to addiction.

Hoboken Police Chief Steven Aguiar stated, “Unused or expired medications can pose a serious public safety issue, and this event is an easy and effective way to reduce that risk. I encourage all residents to take a few minutes, clean out their medicine cabinets, and drop off unwanted medications with our officers. You can help make a big difference in keeping Hoboken safe.”

Countywide, several municipal departments are hosting collection events from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. including:

  • The Bayonne Police Department – Bayonne City Hall (630 Avenue C)
  • The Hoboken Police Department – Police Headquarters (106 Hudson Street)
  • The Kearny Police Department – Police Headquarters (237 Laurel Avenue)
  • The Secaucus Police Department – Secaucus Public Library (1379 Paterson Plank Road)
  • The Union City Police Department – Bella Vista Apartments (522 22nd Street)
  • The Weehawken Police Department – Police Headquarters (400 Park Avenue)

In Hoboken, in addition to headquarters, residents can drop off old, expired, unneeded, and unwanted tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs, no questions asked, in the lobby area of the following locations:

  • Columbian Towers, 76 Bloomfield Street
  • Adams Gardens, 220 Adams Street
  • Monroe Gardens, 221 Jackson Street
  • Fox Hill Gardens, 311 13th Street
  • Hoboken Public Library, 500 Park Avenue
