With excessive temperatures expected to top 100 degrees early next week, Union City today announced the opening of a cooling center for residents needing to escape the heat.
Beginning today, Saturday, June 21st and continuing through Friday, June 27th, the Housing Authority Hillside Pavilion at 3911 Kennedy Boulevard will be open 24 hours a day for any Union City residents seeking shelter from the extreme heat and hot weather.
The city asks that residents check on their neighbors, particularly senior citizens, as well as pets, to make sure they are safe.
