The Jersey City Police Department and the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit are investigating the death of a 56-year old man which occurred yesterday, Friday, July 25th.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, who will be retiring effective August 1st, the Jersey City Police Department was notified shortly after 9 am of an injured person in the area of Neptune and Garfield Avenues in Jersey City. When police officers arrived, they found an unresponsive male outside on Neptune Avenue. The injured male, who was later identified as Joey Richburg of Jersey City, was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:42 a.m. Suarez says the cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this matter, but no arrests have been made at this time.
