The Freshman Academy at West New York’s Memorial High School put on two performances of “Mean Girls” this weekend. For the majority of the 9th grade cast, it was their first time performing on stage.
While there definitely were nerves among cast members, it did not show when Hudson TV attended the first performance on Friday night. The singing, dancing and acting were spot on, leaving the audience in awe. Quite an achievement for first timers.

The musical follows the story of Cady Heron, a student from Africa who had been home schooled before entering a public high school in the United States,

Cady got caught up hanging out with a group of mean girls who treated their fellow classmates poorly, but eventually realized that it was wrong to ignore her friends, a group of less popular students. Everything changed by the end of the play.
The cast consisted of approximately 30 freshmen. “Mean Girls” was just the third production staged by the Freshman Academy at Memorial High School.
