The Union City Board of Education has announced that Jose Marti STEM Academy STEM Supervisor, Dr. Nadia Makar, was honored on Saturday with the 2026 Mentor of the Year Award from mentoruconnect. The presentation was held in Newark.
Dr. Makar has been a mentor to countless Union City students during her decades of service to the Union City Board of Education. She also received several proclamations from the City of Newark on Saturday, including congratulations from Mayor Ras Baraka during the luncheon celebration.
