Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello is reporting that on Thursday, May 14, 2026, members of the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit arrested the driver involved in a hit-and-run collision in Jersey City that injured a pedestrian on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
23-year old Jayden Medina of Jersey City is charged with endangering an injured victim, a crime of the third degree. He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and released on a summons pending his first court appearance.
Mello says on May 9, shortly before 8 a.m., the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of John F. Kennedy Boulevard and Duncan Avenue. Responding officers located a 37-year-old female victim with non-life threatening injuries. The striking vehicle, which was later identified as a 2010 Nissan Sentra, did not remain at the scene. The victim, a Jersey City resident, was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center.
Prosecutor Mello credited the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation and arrest. The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
