Lawrence Godonel a 46-year-old male from Hoboken was allegedly caught in the act of stealing a bike and has been charged with Theft, Burglary Tools and Resisting arrest, Hoboken Police says.
On July 6th, while in the area of 80 Hudson Street, Detective Arturo Gonzalez from Hoboken Police observed the defendant looking at bicycles that were locked to the bike rack. After several minutes, he observed defendant use wire cutters and cut the lock to the bike and ride away. Detective Gonzalez identified himself and gave chase of the defendant who continued to ride away. Defendant was apprehended a short distance later and placed under arrest. He was transported to headquarters and processed for the above charges. In the process of placing defendant under arrest Detective Gonzalez suffered minor injuries which he was treated for. The defendant was arrested at 7.04pm.
Bail: Defendant was given a $15,000 bail no 10% option and committed to the Hudson County Correctional Facility. He was also processed for an outstanding bench warrant from the Hudson County Sheriff for parole violation.
