A Union City man was arrested after he stabbed another township man during an argument.

Angel Hernandez, 59, was charged with aggravated assault in the weekend incident on the 100 block of 47th Street.

According to police, the men were arguing in front of Los Laureles Liquors when it escalated and resulted in the attack.

The victim had an inch-wide puncture wound on the right side of his stomach and was transported to Jersey City Medical Center for further evaluation.

He said Hernandez used to be his friend, but just walked up to him and stabbed him for no reason and that the man was crazy.

During processing Hernandez uttered to officers in Spanish, “I am glad that I stabbed him twice, I would do it again if I have the chance.”

A gold folding knife with blood on it was recovered.
