Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has announced that the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Bayonne Fire Department are currently investigating a fire that critically injured a male on Monday afternoon, September 16, 2024.
Prosecutor Suarez says that shortly after 5:20 p.m., the Bayonne Fire Department received multiple reports of a fire at 167 West 9th Street. Responding officers found a fire in the basement of the residential building.
A 56-year-old man was located with serious injuries. He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center for treatment, where he remains in critical but stable condition, according to the Prosecutor..
The cause and origin of the fire remain unknown at this time, but an investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Bayonne Fire Department are underway.
