Jersey City Medical and McCabe Ambulance both bid for the contract for the City of Bayonne, but the town decided to stick with McCabe. This came after the city council unanimously voted to put the city’s ambulance services out to bid in October.
Council President Sharon Nadrowski told The Jersey Journal newspaper in October “Our taxpayers are paying over $650,000 a year, when McCabe Ambulance gave a proposal to Jersey City for zero.” However, when the Bayonne contract was out to bid this time around, both providers gave them bid at no cost to the city.
McCabe Ambulance Company, which is a Bayonne based business, has been the exclusive provider for Bayonne for over 30 years. The city awarded them a five-year contract.
