Bayonne Corrections Officer Arrested and Charged on Witness Tampering at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility

On September 27, 2019, Jose R. Martinez, age 42 of Bayonne, NJ, was arrested and charged with one count of third degree tampering with a witness. The investigation conducted by the NJDOC Special Investigation Division revealed that Mr. Martinez, while employed as a Lieutenant at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility, was under investigation for criminal activity. During the course of that investigation, he asked a fellow officer to provide false information. Mr. Martinez was released pending a court appearance.”
