Bayonne Resident Faces Charges for Jersey City Hit-and-Run Incident

In a recent update from Hudson County authorities, a 33-year-old Bayonne man, Joseph Emmons, has been arrested in relation to a hit-and-run incident that took place on July 24, 2022, in Jersey City. This accident resulted in severe injuries to a 64-year-old bicyclist.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit apprehended Emmons on September 20. He is facing multiple charges, including:

  • Endangering an Injured Victim (third-degree crime)
  • Providing a False Report to Law Enforcement (fourth-degree crime)
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence (fourth-degree crime)

Emmons was taken into custody at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office located in Secaucus. He is set to make his initial court appearance on September 29.

The Jersey City Police Department was alerted about the injured 64-year-old male on August 1, 2022, who was receiving treatment at the Jersey City Medical Center due to the hit-and-run. Investigations revealed that the victim was cycling around 12:30 a.m. near Kennedy Boulevard and Terhune Avenue in Jersey City when he was hit by a red Hyundai car. The impact caused him to be thrown into a stationary vehicle.
