19-year-old Markus Monroe from Jersey City was arrested on multiple charges after Bayonne Police Department received reports of kidnapping and armed burglary on 2 separate incidents.

On 08/06/2016 at 0258hrs a robbery was reported by a 20 y/o male victim Bayonne resident.  He reported that an acquaintance, later identified as Monroe, had picked him up in Bayonne and transported him into Jersey City where he robbed him of cash at gunpoint and struck him in the forehead with the weapon. Monroe then drove the victim back into Bayonne to his residence on Avenue F where he forced his way into the victim’s residence and later fled the scene. Minor facial injuries were visible but medical attention was refused. 

On 08/07/2016 at 0447hrs a robbery was reported by an 18 y/o male Bayonne resident.  He reported that while standing on his front porch on West 28th St between Broadway & Avenue C he was approached by an individual, later identified as Monroe, who produced a handgun and forced him into his residence where he was held against his will at gun point while Monroe forced him to fill a garbage bag with valuables from around his residence. Monroe struck him in the face with the weapon. Minor facial injuries were visible but medical attention was refused.

The suspect was given $100,000 Cash Bail and was taken to Hudson County Jail.

Bayonne Police Detective Lieutenant Timothy Wilgus coordinated with Jersey City Police Department Captain Michael Gajewski to successfully make the apprehension at approximately 1500hrs on 08/08/2016.
