Bayonne man charged with animal cruelty after his dog dies

40-year-old Mark Laurie of Lord Avenue in Bayonne has been charged with animal cruelty Bayonne Police says.

On 10/21/2018, officers responded to Laurie’s residence to investigate a report of animal cruelty. Officers were able to locate the dog and the owner, identified as Laurie, inside the residence. The dog appeared lethargic, emaciated, and having difficulty breathing. Officers immediately transported the dog to veterinary hospital in Staten Island for emergency treatment. The dog succumbed to its poor health and expired a short time later.

After a detailed investigation, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Laurie. Laurie was taken into custody at 0926 hours from the area of Observer Highway (Hoboken) by NJ Transit Police on a warrant issued out of Bayonne Municipal Court for animal cruelty.

He was remanded to the Hudson County Jail.
