(Bayonne, NJ) – Mayor Jimmy Davis today issued a statement in connection with the conduct and results of the 2016 General Election:
“Yesterday the voters of our nation took to the polls to choose our next President and Vice President. While this race took the headlines of most newspapers nationwide, here, in Bayonne, we had the opportunity to vote in local races as well. I want to congratulate Congressmen Albio Sires and Donald Payne, Jr. on their reelection, as well as our Hudson County Sheriff Re-Elect Frank X. Schillari and Hudson County Register-Elect Diane Coleman. I look forward to a continued, mutually beneficial relationship with our federal delegation and county officials.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of those who participated in Bayonne’s second school board election in many years. This is the second year since the voters of our City chose to move from an appointed board to an elected school board. While there has certainly been a learning curve during this transition, I believe that the process is a healthy one based on voter turnout and candidate participation. Specific congratulations to the apparent successful candidates: Denis F. Wilbeck, Carol R. Cruden, Mary Jane Desmond, and Charles Ryan. To those who were unsuccessful: Simply, thank you. Thank you for being part of this process, and for putting your name on the line in hopes of doing good to the School District and the City as a whole.”
