Bayonne’s 6th Annual “Paddle the Peninsula” Kayak Event Announced for September 16

Bayonne, NJ – Mayor Jimmy Davis, in collaboration with the Bayonne City Council, has officially announced the return of the much-anticipated “Paddle the Peninsula” kayak event. Set to take place on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., this marks the sixth year of the event’s successful run.

Mayor Davis expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Paddle the Peninsula offers a unique recreational experience on Newark Bay. We invite residents and visitors alike to join in, make memories, and enjoy the water with family and friends.”

The event is structured to cater to both novice and experienced kayakers. While seasoned participants will kick off their journey from Rutkowski Park at 9:30 a.m., heading towards 16th Street, beginners can join the float-arounds on Newark Bay, scheduled from 11:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Safety remains a priority, with age restrictions in place and mandatory safety briefings scheduled fifteen minutes before each trip. Registration is essential, ensuring adequate provisions for all attendees. Participants have the flexibility to bring their kayaks or use the ones provided. However, inflatable kayaks are advised against for the trip from Rutkowski Park to DiDomenico-16th Street Park.

To add to the festive atmosphere, light snacks and refreshments will be available for all.

Mayor Davis wrapped up the announcement by saying, “Paddle the Peninsula is a testament to Bayonne’s vibrant community spirit. We look forward to seeing everyone on September 16.”
