Following more than 30 years in the Department, the past seven as Chief of Police, Bayonne’s Robert Geisler retired on Thursday.
According to a statement from the Bayonne Police Department, “Chief Geisler has led our department with strength, compassion, and vision. He guided us through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring the safety of both our officers and our community while continuing to uphold the highest standards of service.”
The statement continued, “Chief Geisler has consistently supported the men and women of this department, advocating for the resources we need to do our jobs effectively and safely.”
Deputy Chief Joe Scerbo is serving as Acting Police Chief.
Bayonne spokesman Joe Ryan, in a text to Hudson TV, said more on Chief Geisler’s retirement will be released next week.
