Bayonne Residents Upset and Angered by Recent Bayonne Bridge Construction

On Monday September 29, Bayonne residents voiced there concerns regarding the recent construction being done on the Bayonne Bridge

The $1.3 billion project to raise the bridge’s roadway will give larger ships access to New York and New Jersey ports. Many however are being directly affected by the construction.

A Major complaint being made by Bayonne residents is that the port authority is doing nothing to help them.

Port Authority program director Joann Papageorgis responded to this saying “were doing the best we can, construction is always a short term problem.but eventually the construction goes away.”

Bayonne mayor Jimmy Davis was also at the meeting and urged Bayonne residents to contact him if there needs were not being met by the port authority.

The bridge is set to finish in 2017 and it looks like Bayonne residents may have to deal with the construction until then.
