Busy day for NHRFR fighting a fire in North Bergen, another in Union City

A two-alarm fire caused by the demolition of an abandoned building in North Bergen raged at 9:15 this morning.

That’s when North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue were called to 6217 Meadowview Avenue to battle the blaze.

According to Chief Frank Montagne, they had it contained within an hour.

Six engines, three trucks and a rescue vehicle… the Chief says it was a 10-15 piece effort to bring this fire under control, but luckily no one was injured.

And over in Union City, at 1:27pm NHRFR fought another two-alarm fire at 2310 Bergenline Avenue.

Montagne says there was smoke on a second floor building that took 45 minutes to get under control. There were no injuries here either.

The Chief says they don’t yet know the cause of that fire and it is currently being investigated.
