The cause of a three alarm, Bayonne house fire at 28 West 31 Street on Monday is under investigation. Thankfully, no persons were in the home at the time the blaze broke out at 4:19 pm.
Bayonne Fire Chief Keith Weaver issued the following statement on Instagram:
“Arriving firefighters found a fire in the basement and smoke throughout the residential building. The fire progressed to three alarms and firefighters used five handlines to extinguish the fire, which was declared under control at 5:44 pm. No occupants were displaced by the fire.”
One firefighter received a minor injury and was treated by EMS at the scene.
Firefighters had to overcome frozen fire hydrants in order to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings.
