Cities of Hoboken and Boston Partner for Road Safety and Resiliency

The City of Hoboken and the City of Boston have announced a new partnership under the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Vision Zero Community Pairing Program. This collaboration aims to bolster both cities’ efforts in achieving Vision Zero goals and fostering mutual learning and development of road safety initiatives.The FHWA Vision Zero Community Pairing Program serves as a unique platform for sharing information, best practices, and evaluating strategies for safer streets. This initiative is committed to building beneficial learning relationships between participating cities.

Hoboken Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “This exciting collaboration with Boston will lead to innovative solutions to help us reach our goal of eliminating all traffic deaths and injuries by 2030.”

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu echoed these sentiments, saying, “Cities of every size are taking on the same challenges to deliver greener, safer streets. Boston is excited to celebrate Hoboken’s commitment to smart streets infrastructure.”

As part of this program, Boston representatives recently visited Hoboken for a tour of the city’s Vision Zero and resiliency projects, including the South Waterfront Bikeway, ResilienCity Park, and more. The visit concluded with a meeting between the mayors to discuss future projects and goals.
