A first of its kind task force in Hudson County has been announced by County Executive Craig Guy.  The LGBTQ+ Task Force will advise Hudson County leadership on issues important to Hudson County citizens of the LGBTQ+ community, especially with the aim of eliminating discrimination, promoting acceptance, and advocating for increased dignity and visibility of LGBTQ+ peoples.

Guy recently stated, “On the heels of National Coming Out Day, I am very excited to announce the creation of the Hudson County LGBTQ+ Task Force.  I am proud to say Hudson County is one of the most inclusive, diverse, and welcoming communities in the United States. We are home to the largest LGBTQ+ community in New Jersey. We are fortunate to be the home of organizations leading the political fight and providing social services for the queer community. This Task Force will help us to develop a strong working relationship between Hudson County leadership and the LGBTQ+ community and help us identify community members’ immediate and future needs and concerns. I look forward to the Task Force’s efforts so Hudson County can more effectively address the diverse concerns of its LGBTQ+ communities and better foster an inclusive, safe, and equitable environment for individuals of all sexual orientations and gender identities.”
The LGBTQ+ Task Force will be comprised of 15 members who have a strong understanding of LGBTQ+ issues and a passion for making Hudson County more inclusive.    It will meet quarterly each year.
The Task Force members will be chosen by officials across Hudson County government. Hudson County residents are encouraged to apply (Hudson County employees, publicly elected officials, and appointed officials will not be considered for positions on the Task Force).  Residents can apply here.
Applications will remain open until Tuesday, November 12.
