Fleeing car hits Harrison police officer conducting traffic stop

A Harrison Police Officer conducing a traffic stop in the early morning hours Tuesday was struck and injured by a vehicle that left the scene.

The officer discharged his service weapon during the 4:20 am incident in the area of Jersey and South 7th Street.

Emergency Medical Services transported the officer to St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Internal Affairs Unit is currently investigating and 
have yet to make any arrests.

Stefany Scalabrini told ABC7 New York she was asleep when it happened.

“Then I got awakened by three really big shots.”

It was very jolting to the quiet community.

“It sounded like it was right in the room, so I jumped,” Eileen Gilgallon told ABC7, adding that she saw just one police car out her third floor window.
