Four Arrested, One at-large in Arm Robbery in Bayonne

On Thursday, August 9, 2018, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Bayonne Police Officers and Detectives responded to the Hudson Plaza Motel, located at 190 West 63rd Street on a report of an armed robbery.  Upon their arrival, officers were met by the victim, a 44 year old male who stated that two men; one black and one white, had robbed him at gunpoint.

The victim stated that he arrived at the motel earlier that evening with two women.  Shortly after 9 p.m., someone knocked on the door of the second floor motel room.  One of the females opened the door, allowing the two men to enter.  The black male, later identified as Davon Webb, 26, of Grant Avenue in Jersey City entered the room and struck the victim in the side of the head with a revolver and ordered him to the ground, while the white male, later identified as Mark Tomczak, 32, of Prospect Avenue in Bayonne removed $2,700.00 in cash from the victim’s pants pocket along with the victim’s wristwatch.  The two male actors then fled the Motel along with one of the females, Ashley Pitre, 31, an Avenue A resident, leaving in a vehicle driven by Mason Butler, 23, of East 33rd Street, Bayonne.  The second woman, later identified as Elizabeth Torres, 37, of East 16th Street had a taxicab dispatched to the motel transport her to Tomczak’s residence.

Subsequent investigation by members of the Bayonne Police Department’s Detective Bureau and Narcotics Unit led to the charging of Mark Tomczak, Davon Webb, Ashley Pitre and Elizabeth Torres with first degree Robbery and Conspiracy to commit Robbery, a second degree offense.  Webb was additionally charged with weapons offenses.   The four are being detained at the Hudson County Correctional Center.  A warrant was issued for the arrest of Mason Butler.  At the time of this release, Butler is still at large.  Anyone with information regarding Butler’s whereabouts is encouraged to call the Bayonne Police TIPS line at 1-877-900-TIPS.
