Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that free fire wood is available from the Bayonne Department of Public Works at the Recycling Yard on Constable Hook. The yard is located across the street from 330 Hook Road. Mayor Davis said, “People who wish to have fire wood must come down to the Recycling Yard. They must bundle the wood themselves and take responsibility for transporting it.”
The Public Works Department develops a fresh supply of wood whenever the Forestry Division cuts down a tree. Fire wood is available while supplies last at the Hook Road location, Monday to Friday, except holidays, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
Fire wood, mulch, and wood chips are all available from time to time, depending on supplies. The Public Works Department advises residents that strong containers may be necessary for carrying the various wood products.
