Free Law Day Event at Union City High School

UNION CITY, NJ – Mayor Brian P. Stack, in collaboration with the Board of Commissioners, is set to host a Free Law Day on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Union City High School, located at 2500 Kennedy Blvd.

This initiative is a joint effort between the city and several esteemed legal organizations, including the New Jersey State Bar Association, Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey, Hudson County Bar Association, and Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office. Additionally, Mercedes Joaquin, Director of Community Relations for the Union City Board of Education, has played a pivotal role in organizing this event.

Residents attending the event will have the unique opportunity to hear from legal experts on a range of topics. These include immigration, guardianship for children, criminal law and expungements, landlord-tenant disputes, divorce proceedings, domestic violence, and restraining orders. The presentations will be available in both English and Spanish to cater to the diverse community of Union City.

Following the panel presentation, attendees will have the chance to engage in one-on-one discussions with lawyers in the school gymnasium. This provides a platform for residents to ask specific legal questions and gain insights into their concerns.

The city encourages all residents to mark their calendars and partake in this valuable community service event, aimed at providing free legal guidance and fostering community engagement.
