Gas Station Attendant Held at Gunpoint in North Bergen

Two robberies occurred yesterday, January, 13, 2015, in Union City and North Bergen, possibly by the same man.

Police were called to the Boost Mobile store located on 25th St. in Union City around 6:30 p.m when a store employee was held at gunpoint. At approximately 7:30 p.m., just one hour later, police were called to the Exxon gas station on Tonelle Ave. and 46th street in North Bergen, where a gas station attendant was also held up at gunpoint. According to the owner, the gas attendant was sitting in the office when the alleged gunman casually walked into the gas station, through the office door and pointed the gun at him, demanding all of the money. The gas attendant struggled with the suspect and was able to push him through the doors. Apparently, the suspect casually walked away. The victim suffered minor injuries. No proceeds were taken.

Police are investigating as to whether or not this suspect is connected to both robberies. The gunman was described as an African American male, 6’0” tall, slim, wearing a skull hat and carrying a black bag. We’ll update as new information becomes available.

If you have any information, please contact the Union City and/or North Bergen police departments immediately.
