JERSEY CITY – A 27-year-old Jersey City man was shot in the hand Thursday night while in his home on Union St., according to officials.
On Thursday, March 12th at around 8:30 p.m. Officers Mora and Moore were dispatched to the 200th block of Union Street, between Kennedy and West Side Ave, on report of shots fired. Upon arrival, the officers went to the second floor of the home and observed a victim in his bedroom who sustained a gun shot wound to the right hand, according to police reports. The officers spoke with a relative of the victim who was present the time of the incident and told police that they “heard multiple gun shots coming from outside,” according to reports.
There were two separate bullet holes in the window pane of the second floor bedroom, a bullet hole in the flat screen television, and a bullet hole in the wall, according to police reports. Police recovered three shell casings on the sidewalk in front of ￼ Union St. According to officials, it did not appear to be a random shooting.
Due to the extent of injury, the victim was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where his injury was determined to be non-life threatening.
The gunman is unknown at this time but police are investigating.
