“It was fun for me today because there was a parade, there was a band and I like the candy,” says Iris.
North Bergen gets a head start on Halloween, much to the delight of all the kids.
“It’s a party and we could have fun,” says Max, aka ‘the alien from Mars.’
Spiderman agrees it’s cool and the best part is…
“The haunted hallways,” he says.
Local elected officials see this as a great way to bring the community together.
“Everybody comes in with their costumes; right now they’re in the auditorium over there in the gym, and they were walking around, they’re having fun. They were getting spooked out and scared and then ya know, we give them the goodies,” says Commissioner of Parks and Recreation Hugo Cabrera.
It’s a happy day, according to the mayor.
“Just wonderful; this is one of the really fun programs that we have,” Sacco says.
And how much is Iris going to trick-or-treat this year?
“Maybe all night,” she says.
